A Journey Through Decades of Transformation

Can you believe it's been two years since I kicked off my gig as a professional coach and sparring partner? What a ride! I've been deep into strategic planning, diving headfirst into client engagements, and experiencing personal growth in more ways than I can count.

Guess what? It’s time for a celebration! 🎉

From figuring out the marketing and branding game to juggling IT matters, finding that sweet spot in work-life balance, and grappling with financial challenges – it’s been a wild mix.

But you know what’s been even more exciting? The success stories from my awesome clients, seeing that client base grow, having some cool partner discussions, and getting involved in the shipping community. This journey of mine is all about fostering growth, and

I am in the midst of crafting a venture that’s not just successful but incredibly fulfilling.

Here’s to the journey – from spark to a blazing fire! 🔥

Before this I had my doings in the world of shipping.

More than four decades since I first dipped my toes into the world of shipping at Equinor.

And let me tell you, time has really flown – feels like I started when I was 12!
(Okay, maybe not that, but it’s been a wild ride!)

Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, shall we?

First Decade: Setting Sail in the World of Shipping

Back in the ’80s, I embarked on an oil tanker, fulfilling a childhood dream inspired by my grandmother’s tales. I was the first female to join Statoil Shipping, and while it came with its challenges, it also led to the establishment of WISTA Norway. The first ten years were a whirlwind of connections, learning, and 24/7 work. I even lugged around a Simonsen telephone with a massive battery in my backpack during duty – talk about dedication!

Second Decade: Stockholm, Challenges, and Learning

The ’90s took me to Stockholm, where I represented Statoil in the NestNord Tankers Pool. Living and working in Gamla Stan was a dream, even though full acceptance wasn’t a given. That changed when I fixed my first vessel, proving that gender wasn’t a barrier. The late ’90s saw me heading to Statoil North America, soaking up stories and memories. Outsourcing happened in ’97, and I decided to dive into more education, earning a Bachelor’s in Economy, Marketing, and Internationalization.

Third Decade: Motherhood, Leadership, and Changes

The new millennium began with significant changes. My son Andreas was born, and I earned my Master of Management. Leadership took center stage when I got my first position in Team Polaris, experiencing long-distance leadership reporting to Glasgow. The tough decisions came when we changed Norwegian seafarers with Filipinos on our shuttle tankers, impacting many lives.

Fourth Decade: Challenges, Leadership Impact, and Personal Growth

More changes marked my fourth decade. Industrial outsourcing became a reality, and I led my team through tough conversations about outsourcing in Glasgow, Rio de Janeiro, and Stavanger. A positive leadership impact was being part of the talent board. The end of the decade saw Brookfield acquiring shares in Teekay Offshore, establishing Altera Infrastructure, and launching its branding in March 2020.

A personal milestone hit when my son left for France to study – an emotional “empty nest” moment. Seeking refills, I ventured into non-profit organizations like Prospera, TEDx Stavanger, Professional Women’s Network, and Lean in Energy. Inspired by these experiences, I stepped into career counseling and coaching, discovering my passion for setting others up for success!

Flashback to a little over two years ago – that’s when I took the plunge. Yep, the big leap into the world of setting others up for their success. Crazy how time flies, right? 🚀
