This year’s event focused on the theme of effective mentoring, featuring a networking brunch, a dynamic panel discussion, an in-depth training session, and an interactive ‘speed-mentoring’ activity. Our goal was to highlight the pivotal role mentoring plays in the breakbulk industry and to ensure women are always present in the room.
Mentorship Stories
I shared the story of my mentee, Lisa, showcasing how our mentorship based on mutual understanding led to her growth as a value-based leader. Elisabeth Cosmatos, president of The Heavy Lift Group, emphasized the importance of having someone to listen to during difficult times. Miriam Nagel and Marianne Blechingberg shared valuable lessons from their mentors, stressing authenticity and seizing opportunities.

In my presentation “Mentoring from All Angles,” I delved into the rich and diverse forms of mentoring that can significantly impact both personal and professional growth. Mentorship is not a one-size-fits-all approach; it encompasses various types, each offering unique benefits and perspectives.

For mentorship to be truly effective, certain elements are essential:
